OpenIPAM

OpenIPAM

Know your network. Find every address.
A self-hosted home for your IP addresses, subnets and devices.

MIT license CI Latest release

OpenIPAM brings your network inventory into one searchable place. Keep track of devices, document address assignments and see which hosts are available in a subnet—all on infrastructure you control.

Built for homelabs and small teams, it gives everyday network details a home: the IP of your NAS, the VLAN of a service, the location of a switch or the dashboard URL of a device.

Why OpenIPAM?

  • See your subnets. Explore an IPv4 occupancy grid with free, assigned and reserved addresses. Assign a free host directly from its tile.
  • Keep devices and addresses together. Store hostnames, MAC addresses, locations, notes and service URLs. Link multiple IP addresses to a device and mark its primary address.
  • Make the inventory yours. Create reusable device types directly in a modal, then select them for other devices or use them in filters.
  • Organize your network. Manage IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, group related records, document subnets and VLAN IDs, and create address ranges in bulk.
  • Bring your existing data. Import devices from CSV with column mapping and export selected records for sharing or further processing.
  • Connect your tools. Manage devices, addresses and groups through a token-based REST API.
  • Feel at home. Switch between English and German, personalize your profile and enable email two-factor authentication for browser sign-in.

The subnet grid reflects your documented inventory rather than a live network scan. OpenIPAM manages your records and assignments; your DHCP and DNS services continue to handle network configuration.

Start small, host it your way

Run OpenIPAM with Docker Compose and SQLite in a single application container, or connect it to MariaDB or PostgreSQL. Images are published to Docker Hub as triopsi/openipam and to GHCR as ghcr.io/triopsi/openipam.

On a fresh installation, the container generates and persists its application key, prepares the database and applies migrations. Create your first account through the browser installer. Pending migrations run automatically on subsequent container starts, and the supplied configuration sends mail synchronously without a separate queue worker.

Follow the quick-start guide for a small Compose file, database alternatives, reverse-proxy setup, updates and backups. Deploy it within a trusted network or behind an access-controlled proxy; see the security notes before exposing an installation.

Built to contribute to

OpenIPAM is open source under the MIT license. Contributions can be code, bug reports, translations, tests or clearer documentation.

The development environment includes a VS Code Devcontainer, Docker Compose, PostgreSQL and Mailpit. The application uses Laravel, Filament and Livewire, with PHPUnit coverage and CI checks for SQLite, PostgreSQL and MariaDB, code style, frontend assets and production-container startup.

Read the contribution guide to get the source, start the development environment and submit your first pull request.
