Sriracha requires very little processing power and will typically use less than 250 MB of memory.

Most features do not require JavaScript and will degrade gracefully when necessary.

Why Sriracha?

  • Privacy - Sriracha never stores plain text IP addresses in the database. Only salted secure hashes of IP addresses are stored in the database. Sriracha release archives also include all of the files needed to run a website. Unless a webmaster has added their own external resources, visitors will download pages and resources from a single server.
  • Security - Sriracha accounts may be secured with two-factor authentication devices. When a two-factor authentication device has been added, staff must enter a passcode (TOTP) in addition to their username and password.
  • Efficiency - Sriracha spreads out the work of building each static page across all CPU cores. For example, a 16-core system will build pages 15 to 16 times faster than a single-core system.
  • Cacheability - Sriracha writes static HTML pages whenever data is modified. Visitors browsing through boards will only hit static files. Static files are cached on the server and on each client.
  • Extensibility - Sriracha supports customizing the template of every page. Support is also available for creating and loading custom plugins, enabling new functionality for visitors and staff.

I need your help to continue developing and improving Sriracha. I pushed the first commit of Sriracha on 2025/04/10 and have worked ever since to make it as private, secure and efficient as possible. Sriracha is free and open source software. When someone downloads and installs Sriracha, I do not get anything in return financially nor in terms of data. I do not include any tracking in Sriracha. My only metrics are the binary download counts on Codeberg and the pull count on Docker Hub.

If you use the software which I have shared freely, there are only two things I ask in return: Please do not modify or remove the footer link to the Codeberg repository. And, if you have the financial means, please make a recurring donation to help fund the continued development of Sriracha. You are welcome to donate anonymously. Any amount you feel is appropriate for your usage and financial situation would be greatly appreciated. If you can't afford to donate, that is okay. I trust you to do what is right for you.

Support

Note: Support is only available for official Sriracha releases running without any custom templates.

  1. Ensure you are running the latest version of Sriracha.
  2. Review the open issues.
  3. Open a new issue.

Unofficial support is also available via /help/ and Matrix.

License

This application is licensed under LGPLv3. If you modify the source code of this application, you must share the full source code of your changes publicly for free. You may, however, link with this application using proprietary shared libraries, so long as the base application (Sriracha) remains unmodified. If your only changes are to create proprietary shared libraries, and these libraries would work with other installations of Sriracha because you did not make any modifications to Sriracha's source code, then you do not need to release the source code of your shared libraries.
