This is a docker image to easily install and run Filemaker Server

Quick note, before you start, you can use different kind of volumes for your data folder. You can mount a host folder, use a SMB or NFS share or simply create a local persistent volume.

As an example, we're going to create a persistent volume like so:

docker volume create fm-data

To install you need to run it like this:

docker run \
    --detach \
    --hostname fms-docker \
    --name filemaker-server \
    --privileged \
    --publish 80:80 \
    --publish 443:443 \
    --publish 2399:2399 \
    --publish 5003:5003 \
    --volume fm-data:"/opt/FileMaker/FileMaker Server/Data" \
    tstaehli84/filemaker-server:latest

Please note the following:

• You can change the ports to something else (the value on the left) if they're already in use on your machine (like for instance 8080:80)
• You can choose a specific version of FMS like tstaehli84/filemaker-server:21.1.6
  

You can also deploy it with docker compose (see following example:)

Once installed and running, you can open the filemaker server admin console in your browser on https://localhost/admin-console⁠

username: admin
password: 1234
pin: 0000

IMPORTANT: As the server installation actually happens on the first run, it might take some time for the admin console to be up and running.

If you want a GUI to easily manage your files that are in the fm-data volume, you can easily install a web based filebrowser like https://hub.docker.com/r/filebrowser/filebrowser⁠.

Just run this command:

docker run -d \
    -v fm-data:/srv \
    -v filebrowser-db:/database \
    -v filebrowser-config:/config \
    -e PUID=$(id -u) \
    -e PGID=$(id -g) \
    -p 8000:80 \
    --name filebrowser \
    filebrowser/filebrowser:s6

Once installed and running, you can open the filemanager in your browser on https://localhost:8000⁠

username: admin
password: (randomly generated the first time, check the docker logs)

Please note that the /database and the /config mount points are only required if you want to save changes to the filebrowser settings and users.
