ubuntu/litmuschaos-server is a rock for litmuschaos-server maintained by Canonical⁠.

Litmuschaos is a chaos testing platform for kubernetes applications. It allows you to define, run and monitor 'chaos experiments' that simulate infrastructure failures to verify the stability of your applications. Read more on the official documentation⁠.

This rock deploys the backend component, also known as the 'graphql server'.

This rock's entrypoint is Pebble, a container-optimized init process that enables the orchestration of a collection of local service processes as an organized set.

⁠Inspect

To view the Pebble services⁠ and checks⁠ defined in this rock:

docker run --rm ubuntu/litmuschaos-server:3.21-24.04_edge plan

⁠Run

To run this rock, use any of the usual container runtimes, for example, docker:

docker run --name litmuschaos-server-container \
    -p 3000:3000 \
    ubuntu/litmuschaos-server:3.21-24.04_edge \
    -d

Before starting, ensure a MongoDB instance is running and set DB_SERVER, DB_USER, and DB_PASSWORD to point to it (e.g. docker run -d -e MONGO_INITDB_ROOT_USERNAME=root -e MONGO_INITDB_ROOT_PASSWORD=password -p 27017:27017 mongo:7).

Access the LitmusChaos server at http://localhost:3000.

Note that at this point the workload still won't be operational, as it requires the litmuschaos-auth and litmuschaos-frontend components to function.

⁠Get logs

To view the logs of the running container, run:

docker exec litmuschaos-server-container pebble logs

Or, for a specific service:

docker exec litmuschaos-server-container pebble logs <service>

⁠Monitor health checks

Rocks may have predefined health checks that you can list by running:

docker exec litmuschaos-server-container pebble checks

The overall health of your container can be inspected via:

docker exec litmuschaos-server-container pebble health
