This is built from centos:latest (7)

On running the container it will by default download the (present) latest version (packer_0.8.6_linux_amd64.zip) from https://dl.bintray.com/mitchellh/packer/⁠ and place you in a shell.

If the version changes then start your container with the --env PACKER_VERSION=X.X.X this will download that version of packer (as long as filename format hasn't changed) and place you in a shell.

if you want to know if your version of packer is the latest simple run "packer version" when in the container and it will tell you if the version is out of date.

You can also manually download the packer software once in the container by running the download_packer.sh script (after setting the environment variable PACKER_VERSION as required based on the output of packer version).
