To start Cloud9 in a Docker container, run the following command:
$ docker run -d -p 8080:80 viejo/cloud9
Optionally, you can map it to a volume:
$ docker run -d -p 8080:80 -v HOST_VOLUME:/workspace viejo/cloud9
To have docker available within the IDE
docker run -d -p 8000:80 -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock -v ~/Documents/c9/k8s/workspace/:/workspace viejo/cloud9
Note: 8080 is the port where you want to serve, so feel free to set what you want. Cloud9 serves on port 80 though.
To confirm the container is running, run the following command
$ docker logs CONTAINER
Starting standalone
Connect server listening at http://172.17.0.2:80
Using basic authentication
CDN: version standalone initialized /cloud9/build
Started '/cloud9/configs/standalone' with config 'standalone'!
Cloud9 is up and running
By default Cloud9 will start with the following credentials
username: user
password: pass
If you want to set your own username and password, run the following command, in Cloud9 terminal:
$ c9chpass NEW_USERNAME NEW_PASSWORD
Then restart the container.
light and ide are just the ide, without any additional packages installed. ide uses node 12, while light uses node 10
v3 uses bullseye-slim base image. I added golan 17.8, jq, netcat, nmap, whois and traceroute. Also it no longer copies locale-archive, but build on its own.
v4 uses bullseye-slim base image. I added golang 17.8, jq, netcat, nmap, whois and traceroute. Also it no longer copies locale-archive, but build on its own. And it runs on node 12. It is also the latest.
v5 has php installed so we can run its build in server to test applications. For this readon it is also recommendable to map 8080 to 8080 to see these tests on the browser:
docker run -d -p 8000:80 -p 8080:8080 -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock -v ~/Documents/c9/joker/workspace:/workspace -h cloud9 --name cloud9 viejo/cloud9:v5
