⁠What?

Container with Microsoft Team Foundation Version Control command line tools installed. These tools are used to interact with TFVC (also known as TFS server).

⁠why?

Setting up tools to work with TFVC on MacOS isn't fun. There hasn't ever been much official support and the latest hacky tools available are some years old as well. This is due to Microsoft switching to git themselves (afaik). Setting things up doesn't ever seem to go the same way for any two developers and takes a lot of trial and error.

⁠Usage

mcr.microsoft.com/java/jre:8-zulu-alpine based, run as basic alpine image

⁠Nice to know

When defining environment variables:

• PAT (your personal access token)
• SERVER (e.g. https://company.visualstudio.com)

your credentials get automatically configured and are NOT encrypted.

⁠Summary

This is NOT by any means the best possible solution but at least in my opinion it is still the best one available to suit modern workflow without hassle with VM's etc
