watchlog/watchlog-cluster-agent repository overview

Instant Kubernetes cluster monitoring: real-time node & pod metrics, alerts, and insights.

Overview

  1. Sign up at Watchlog Kubernetes and add your cluster.
  2. Create or edit the agent manifest:
    vim watchlog-cluster-agent.yaml
  3. Deploy the agent:
    kubectl apply -f watchlog-cluster-agent.yaml

How It Works

The Cluster Agent runs as a standard Kubernetes Deployment with its own ServiceAccount, ClusterRole and ClusterRoleBinding. It gathers:

  • Node, Pod, Namespace, Service & Event data via the core API
  • Pod logs
  • Deployments, ReplicaSets, DaemonSets & StatefulSets from the apps API
  • Jobs & CronJobs from the batch API
  • CPU & memory metrics from metrics.k8s.io

Simply inject your WATCHLOG_APIKEY, WATCHLOG_SERVER and WATCHLOG_CLUSTER_NAME into the YAML and apply it—no cluster config changes required.

Prerequisites

  • Kubernetes v1.16+ with API access (kubeconfig)
  • A Watchlog account and API key
