This Docker image provides a complete all-in-one Moodle LMS environment for prototyping and development.

⁠Image Contents

⁠Base System

• Alpine Linux: 3.19 (minimal, secure base)
• Architecture: Multi-platform (linux/amd64, linux/arm64)

⁠Moodle LMS

• Version: 5.0 (MOODLE_500_STABLE branch)
• Source: Official Moodle GitHub repository
• Location: /var/www/html
• Data Directory: /var/moodledata (volume)

⁠PHP Runtime

• Version: 8.3
• Extensions: curl, dom, gd, intl, mbstring, mysqli, opcache, openssl, pdo_mysql, session, simplexml, xml, xmlreader, xmlwriter, zip, zlib, ctype, fileinfo, tokenizer, iconv, sodium

⁠Database

• MariaDB: Latest stable version
• Data Directory: /var/lib/mysql (volume)
• Default Database: moodle
• Default User: moodle / moodle

⁠Web Server

• Nginx: Configured for PHP-FPM
• Port: 8080 (exposed)
• Configuration: Optimized for Moodle

⁠Additional Tools

• su-exec: For running processes as non-root user
• Git: Used during build (removed in final image)

• Username: admin
• Password: (empty, set during first run)
• Email: [email protected]⁠
• Site Name: Moodle
• Language: en

⁠Database Root

• Password: root

⁠Docker Hub Tags

Available tags correspond to Moodle versions:

• latest: Moodle 5.0
• 5.0, 4.3, 4.2, 4.1, 4.0, 3.11, 3.10, 3.9: Specific Moodle versions

⁠Volumes

• /var/moodledata: Moodle data files
• /var/lib/mysql: MariaDB data

⁠Usage

docker run -d -p 8080:8080 wenkhairu/moodle-prototype:latest

This image is built using multi-stage Docker builds for optimal size and includes size optimizations like binary stripping and removal of development files.
