Modifications of a base ungoogled chromium image file.
Based on https://github.com/deepsweet/ungoogled-chromium-headless-remote
My humble addition / contribution was to extract the list of dependencies from a random working chromium binary (Cobalt), and then use that to set up the list of packages for the apt install command to allow the use of a portable linux version of chromium instead, using the (new?) ungoogled-chromium binaries repo and its latest version to date (2024-08-15).
Launch it directly in your entry point (enabling --remote-debugging-port), using something like this (see deepsweet/ungoogled-chromium-headless-remote git repo, just the path is different):
#!/bin/sh
if [ "$(ls -A /home/chromium/.fonts/)" ]; then
fc-cache -f -v
fi
/home/chromium/chromium/ungoogled-chromium_127.0.6533.99-1_linux/chrome \
--disable-background-networking \
--disable-background-timer-throttling \
# ... etc ... All the flags you want ...
--remote-debugging-address=0.0.0.0 \
--remote-debugging-port=9222 \
--user-data-dir=/home/chromium/
Then connect to it using puppeteer-core's browserURL option:
const browser = await puppeteer.connect({
browserURL: 'http://127.0.0.1:9222/'
});
