⁠What is Wowza Streaming Engine Manager?

Wowza Streaming Engine™ Manager is a browser-based interface for configuring, managing, and monitoring the Wowza Streaming Engine media server. Accessible from a computer, tablet, or phone, it simplifies the process of setting up and managing live and on-demand streams, with no command-line expertise required. While developers can still use programmatic and CLI methods, Wowza Streaming Engine Manager provides a more intuitive experience for users of all technical levels, making it easier to monitor performance, adjust settings, and manage streaming workflows with confidence.

⁠What's in this image

This image consists of a web-based user interface so you can configure, manage, and monitor you Wowza Streaming Engine server. Images in this repository are provided by Wowza Media Systems, LLC, for version 4.9.3 of the software and later.

⁠How to use this image

To work with this image, make sure to update the following required environment variables:

• LOG_LEVEL: Use to set the log verbosity. Possible values are DEBUG, INFO, WARN, and ERROR. We recommend using the WARN value to limit logging from Wowza Streaming Engine Manager. This setting also helps to highlight any Wowza Streaming Engine service messages and errors.
• WSE_HOST: Set the default host for WSEM when not specified with query params or cookies
• REST_API_DOCUMENTATION: Enables the REST API Documentation url (since 4.9.7)
• VERSIONED_PATH: Creates a path for WSEM to match the version. (since 4.9.7)
• JKS_TRIAL: Uses the Wowza provided wse-trial.wowza.com certificate (since 4.10)
• JKS_FILE: Full file path to a .jks file for SSL (since 4.10)
• JKS_PASSWORD: Password to .jks file (since 4.10)

⁠Image variants

The wowza-streaming-engine-manager images come in different variants, each designed for a specific use case.

⁠Basic variant: wowza-streaming-engine-manager:latest or wowza-streaming-engine-manager:<version>

This image provides the base version of the Wowza Streaming Engine Manager web-based user interface (UI). It doesn't include the Wowza Streaming Engine service for video streaming. The web-based UI is served using Apache Tomcat, which is a Java-based web server and servlet container. You can additionally use this image to connect to a Wowza Streaming Engine server running somewhere else. There is no trial version of this image.

⁠Video Intelligence Framework (VIF) variant: wowza-streaming-engine-manager:<version>-vif-<vif_version>

This image is based on the basic variant and is pre-configured with Wowza Video Intelligence Framework UI.
