Small web server for slideshows, optionally with multiple clients in sync
181
The Docker image wtzbzdev/webnail starts an HTTP server that can provide web pages generated by the webnail program. These web pages provide series of images that can be shown as a slideshow. When a password is provided, the user will be asked to log in. The account 'main' uses the password. Users logged in as 'remote', with a password equal to 'remote', will stay in sync with the images shown in the 'main' account when it runs a slideshow.
To run, use the command
docker run --publish 80:80 --detach --name webnail \
-v [DIRECTORY]/:/app/:ro \
--env FILENAME = [FILENAME] \
--env PASSWORD=[PASSWORD] \
wtzbzdev/webnail:1.3
where
DIRECTORY is the starting directory. This must be an absolute path name without a trailing '/'. The trailing ":ro" in the "-v" option may not be compatible with docker desktop, in which case it can be dropped. Making the volume read-only is not necessary for the container to run.
FILENAME is a path relative to DIRECTORY for either a directory containing web pages generated by webnail, a ZIP file containing the web pages generated by webnail, or a WAR file containing the web pages generated by webnail.
PASSWORD is a password to use for the 'main' account when multiple 'remote' accounts are to be synchronized. This variable is optional.
The web pages are installed with a context root set to "/". The path "/sync/" is reserved for use by this container's web server. Any servlets provided by a WAR file or directory are ignored: instead there is effectively a built-in servlet that provides the functionality described in the webnail documentation. While intended for use with web pages generated by webnail, this container can be used with static web pages that to not use paths that start with "/sync/".
