Baleen Engine 🐳

Direct, Peer-to-Peer Docker Image Sharing for Local Networks.

🚀 What is Baleen Engine?

Baleen Engine is a Docker Desktop Extension designed to help small teams quickly share Docker images with each other over a local network.

Whether you're working together in an office or collaborating at a hackathon, Baleen Engine establishes a secure, direct peer-to-peer connection between your machines, allowing you to easily transfer an image directly to the developer sitting next to you.

✨ Key Features
  • Zero-Config Discovery: Uses mDNS (zeroconf) to automatically discover other Docker daemons running Baleen on your local network.
  • Delta Layer Streaming: Negotiates layer hashes directly with peers. It saves time and bandwidth by only streaming the missing layers.
  • Secure by Default: Direct TCP connections are encrypted via TLS 1.3 with dynamic LAN trust.
  • Approval Workflows: Incoming image transfers must be explicitly approved, keeping you in full control of your local daemon.
🛠 Installation

You can install Baleen Engine directly into Docker Desktop using the CLI:

docker extension install yehankanishka/baleen-engine:latest
