ziomc/strfry repository overview

Docker image of strfry, a relay for the nostr protocol.

In this image, you need to define one persistent volumes:

  • Database & conf (data:/app)

This store strfry.conf and the post database.

If you need to customize or filter KIND/IP/RATE edit /app/strfry.conf

If you need to limit writes to specifics PUBKEYS decomment in /app/strfry.conf this line

#plugin = "/app/write-policy.py"

and insert the PUBKEYS in whitelist section in /app/write-plugin.py

Below an example of the docker-compose:

services:
  strfry:
    image: ziomc/strfry:latest
    volumes:
      - data:/app
    ports:
      - 7777:7777/tcp
    restart: always

volumes:
    data:

The url will be ws://localhost:7777

If you want encrypt the data transfer with SSL, you can use products like Caddy/Nginx/Traefik/HAProxy to automatically get a valid certificate.

In this case, the url will be wss://nostr-relay.mydomain.com

Feel free to message me on Nostr if you need a hand

Note that as of version 1.1.2, the strfry process now runs as the 'strfry' user instead of 'root.'

If you're using a persistent volume, you'll need to update the permissions for the '/app' directory; typically, this is done via: chown -Rf 1000:1000 /app
