Converting files to Universal Scene Description - version 0.66
230
Based on https://github.com/michaelgold/usdzconvert-docker
Had to make 3 changes in the Docker file:
Add RUN pip install --upgrade pip BEFORE installing numpy
Add RUN python -m pip install pillow after the numpy install line.
Change the last line to:
ENTRYPOINT [ "python", "/home/usdzconvert/usdzconvert" ]
NOTE: on my M1 Mac using with entry point does not work: Have to add --entrypoint "/bin/bash" to launching and work directly WITHIN the Docker container.
I added -w /mnt/models to arrive directly in the (now writable) working directory.
I also removed the ro (read-only) in the mounting of the local drive.
The older mounting -v option now replaced with type=bind. In the example on GitHub it was within single quote... However, removing the single quote allows to use $USER to make the commend more generic.
So I use the following command (on Mac M1) modified from the example on https://github.com/summertriangle-dev/usdzconvert-docker
docker run -it --rm --mount type=bind,source=/Users/$USER/Desktop/,target=/mnt/models -w /mnt/models --entrypoint "/bin/bash" jysgro/usdzconvert:0.66-usd-22.05b
Windows users may need to adjust, e.g. using their actual username rather than $USER.
On https://github.com/michaelgold/usdzconvert-docker it is suggested for PowerShell with the older -v nomenclature:
docker run -v ${PWD}:/mnt/assets --rm michaelgold/usdzconvert /mnt/assets/your-gltf-file.glb
The command assumes that all works directly from the entry-point command, which might not be the case... in that case also add --entrypoint "/bin/bash" and work directing within the container.
