digitalbss/mssql repository overview

MEF.DEV MSSQL

versionsizepullslicense

Microsoft SQL Server that deploys the MEF.DEV platform database on start. It is the data tier of the platform's component model — the transactional database that is the system of record — packaged for lab and evaluation deployments.

Role in the platform

  • stores platform data for the API service (digitalbss/api) and the integration host (digitalbss/servicehost);
  • on every start it brings up SQL Server, creates the database named by DATABASE and the platform login, and publishes the platform schema of its release — the first start takes a few minutes;
  • for a SQL Server that is not this image, the same schema is applied by digitalbss/db-update.

For production the platform expects a transactional database with a synchronous replica — see Platform Architecture.

Run

The server listens on port 1433. Name the database with DATABASE; enable SQL Server Agent with SQL_INSTALL_AGENT. Always set the passwords at run time — MSSQL_SA_PASSWORD for the sa login and MSSQL_USER / MSSQL_PASSWORD for the platform login: the defaults inside the image are public. Keep the data on a volume. Accept the SQL Server licence with ACCEPT_EULA=Y and choose the edition with MSSQL_PID (the lab templates use Developer).

License

The platform schema and scripts are licensed under the Business Source License 1.1 (see Licensing). Microsoft SQL Server inside the image is covered by its own licence terms, which you accept with ACCEPT_EULA=Y; the MSSQL_PID edition you choose must be licensed for your use.
